The Secretary-General of the SCMCHA meets the Regional Director of UNOPS.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met today with the Regional Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services, Muhammad Othman Karam.

In the meeting, attended by the Director of UNOPS in Yemen, Fayyad Rasoul, and the Director of Programs at UNOPS, Khaldoun Salem, Al-Hamali stressed that the service and development projects implemented by UNOPS in Yemen have a positive impact on society and have contributed to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of aggression and siege.

He pointed to the importance of supporting Sana’a International Airport, add sewage projects in some governorates, as well as focusing on priorities especially in the service sector.

Al-Hamli called on UNOPS to dublicate efforts in implementing sustainable projects in the fields of energy, water, sanitation, and roads, in addition to intervening by working on projects to repair and rehabilitate roads and sewage networks.

He pointed to the damage of the water and sewage network and roads, as well as the impact of homes due to the torrential rains in many areas in Yemen during the past weeks.

In turn, the Regional Director appreciated the cooperation of SCMCHA and the facilitation of the tasks of. UNOPS, stressing the readiness to intervene in several sectors, especially in the services sector.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of UN Organizations department of SCMCHA , Turki Jamil, the director of Monitoring and Evaluation department Muhammad Al-Razza’, and the projects coordinator of UNOPs Ali Ibrahim.
