Discussing providing farmers with improved seeds needs and contributing to development .

The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos discussed today with Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Abdul Malik Al-Thor the mechanism of providing farmers with improved seeds and contributing to agricultural development and food security.

At the meeting, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Agriculture Najed al-Mutawakel, Tawoos stressed the need to adhere to quality standards and specifications in examining seeds and ensuring their safety and the extent to which they are free of plant diseases and pests before distributing them to farmers to serve the agricultural sector in achieving an appropriate level of food security.

He stressed the importance of expanding production and contracting farmers to produce seeds in their fields, in a way that contributes to the self-sufficiency and food security of citizens.

In turn, the Minister of Agriculture, in cooperation with SCMCHA, will seek to organize and coordinate the production of seeds for grain crops, develop, promote and support its production and produce improved seeds to contribute to food security and expand the use of improved seeds to increase productivity and development.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Council’s Department of International Cooperation, Manaa al-Asal, acting planning department Mutahar Zeid, Vice-Chairman of the High Agricultural Committee Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai and Director of the General Foundation for The Multiplication of Improved Seeds Engineer Abdullah Al-Wadaai.
