Al-Hamli meets with the Deputy Executive Director of WFP

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation,Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met today with the Deputy Executive Director of WFP for Program and Policy Development, Valerie Guarneri.

The meeting, which was attended by the head of the Central Committee for the Food Security Survey, Idris Al-Shami, and the representative of WFP in Yemen, Richard Regan, discussed issues related to humanitarian aid, the food security survey, and solutions to all problems.

Al-Hamli confirmed the importance of regularly redistribute the aid provided by WFP monthly, with a total of 12 Cycles during the year.

He indicated that this would contribute of alleviating the worst human suffering in the world experienced by the Yemeni people.

He explained that the aid reduction has reached unsatisfactory levels, whether in terms of the number of distribution cycles or the components of the food basket.

He stressed the importance of mobilizing funds and work to distribute humanitarian aid to the most needy families, pointing to the importance of improving food aid.

He also affirmed the keenness of SCMCHA to provide facilities to organizations operating in Yemen, and to work to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who deserve it.
He indicated that SCMCHA worked to release16,136 permits for WFP during the past year, distributed between employee movements and transfer permits of food aid shipments.

The Secretary-General of SCMCHA pointed out the importance of the food security survey contributing to meet the actual need and alleviating the human suffering caused by the aggression and the ongoing siege.

For her part, the Deputy Executive Director of the WFP appreciated SCMCHA’s role in facilitating the work of WFP , stressing the importance of implementing the food security survey, as it is linked to identifying needs and donors’ interaction with the next response plan according to the data of the actual needs of those affected.

She indicated the keenness of the leadership of WFP to provide humanitarian aid to IDP and those affected by the humanitarian crisis they are experiencing.

The meeting was attended by the project managers, Jamal Braih, international organizations, Turki Jameel, monitoring and evaluation, Mohammed Al-Razzaa, and a number of WFP officials.
