Al-Hamli meets with the Executive Director of Handycap International
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met today with the Executive Director of the Handycap International Organization, Manuel Butterwillard.
The meeting was attended by the head of the International Cooperation Department, Faisal Modhesh, and the director of the organization’s office in Yemen, Duncan Paul. The general framework for aspects of coordination in the humanitarian and development fields was discussed, which contributes to improving the conditions of those affected and alleviating their suffering.
The discussion reviewed procedures for collaborative humanitarian cooperation as well as strategies to speed up the implementation of agreed-upon initiatives and activities in order to alleviate the severity of Yemen’s humanitarian crisis.
The Secretary-General of SCMCHA emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination in overcoming any challenges that may develop in the field and enhancing the beneficial contribution of UN and international organizations.
He highlighted the significance of enhanced efforts by Yemeni organizations to conduct development initiatives that assist to alleviate the human suffering caused by the aggression and blockade.
He emphasized the importance of adhering to humanitarian work regulations, national laws, and respecting Yemeni customs and culture in order to facilitate work and achieve humanitarian objectives.
He stressed the Council’s willingness to give facilities to humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen so that they can carry out their humanitarian, development, and relief missions and activities.
Manuel Patrouillard, for his part, appreciated the SCMCHA’s efforts to support the organizations’ work, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the continuity of work in order to achieve common humanitarian goals that are in line with the actual requirements of the beneficiaries.
