The Secretary General of SCMCHA meets the Executive Director of WFP.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met today with the Executive Director of the World Food Program, David Beasley.

The meeting, which was attended by the Head of the Planning Department of SCMCHA , Faisal Modhish and the head of International Cooperation Ali Al-Kahlani, the Regional Director of WFP Corinne Fleischer and the Resident Representative of WFP in Yemen Richard Reagan, reviewed the human suffering experienced by the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and the siege.

In the meeting, Al-Hamli confirmed that SCMCHA provides all the necessary facilities to conduct the work of WFP and perform its tasks in a way that serves the humanitarian work to ensure that aid reaches those who deserve it.

He expressed his hope that Beasley’s visit would contribute to mobilizing the necessary resources to confront the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, due to the continued aggression and siege.

He indicated that preventing oil derivatives from entering Hodeidah caused a catastrophe, and aggravated the humanitarian situation dramatically.

Al Hamli called on WFP to work to end the siege, allow the derivatives to enter, and stop targeting civilian facilities.

He also indicated that the escalation of the aggression, and its targeting of civilian gathering places, doubled the number of IDPs , which exceeds four million and 500 thousand people.

For his part, the Executive Director of WFP affirmed keenness to alleviate human suffering.
He appreciated the efforts of SCMCHA as well as the facilities it provides for the activities and work of WFP.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Organizations Department, Turki Jamil, and the assistant resident representative of WFP in Yemen, Laura Phelps.
