UN delegation visits the old city of Sana’a and Tawoos announces upcoming projects in Amanat Al Asimah with more than $36 million.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, met today with the Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services – Amman – Jordan, Muhammad Othman Akram.

Tawoos ,in the presence of UNOPS Director in Yemen, Fayyad Ahmed Rasoul, welcomed the UNOPS delegation as well as confirmed that the service and development projects funded by the Office in Yemen have a positive impact on society and alleviated the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and the siege.

He pointed to the need to add the governorates of Hajjah, Al-Bayda and Al-Mahwit, within the projects of UNOPS – the urban cities project – and focus on the priorities in several sectors, especially in sanitation and roads.

In turn, Muhammad Othman appreciated the cooperation of SCMCHA in the facilitation of the tasks of UNOPS, stressing the readiness to intervene in several sectors, especially in the services sector.

The meeting was attended by Khaldoun Salem, Program Director of the United Nations Office in Yemen, and Ali Ibrahim, Project Coordinator.
