President Al-Mashat meets the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs

His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, head of the Supreme Political Council, met today with the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs OCHA in Yemen, William David Grisley.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, they discussed the humanitarian situation in Yemen and aspects of cooperation with United Nations organizations in the humanitarian field.

President Al-Mashat confirmeden the importance of the United Nations playing its role in humanitarian aspects, including the opening of Sana’a International Airport and the port of Hodeidah, as well as the neutralization of the national economy.

President Al-Mashat directed the government to overcome the difficulties in front of the United Nations to enable it to perform its tasks.

He called on the United Nations to redouble efforts to alleviate the increasing humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the continued US-Saudi aggression and siege.

During the meeting, President Al-Mashat referred to the suffering of all Yemeni people as a result of the closure of Sana’a International Airport such as people who killed on the roads, and their money is looted, and there are thousands of patients dying as a result of the airport closure, which confirms that the opening of Sana’a Airport is a humanitarian aspect .

He said, “There are strong voices from the Yemeni people criticizing the role of the United Nations in putting pressure on the countries of aggression, led by America, to open Sanaa airport, as it is a humanitarian aspect and everyone has witnessed what the Yemeni people are exposed to as a result of traveling through those fraught areas.”
