Maqboli and Tawoos meet the head of ICRC and his accompanying delegation.

Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqboli, and Secretary General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdel Mohsen Tawoos, discussed today with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer and the accompanying delegation who have a visit in Yemen currently cooperation aspects between Yemen and the ICRC and ways to enhance them.

The meeting, in the presence of the headof the International Cooperation Departments, Mana’a Al-Assal, the head the Single Window, Hamza Al-mukhtar,touched on the joint humanitarian activities between SCMCHA and ICRC .

In the meeting, Dr. Maqboli explained that the aggression against Yemen caused the destruction of infrastructure, especially in the service sectors, which compounded the humanitarian crisis for the Yemeni people.
He also indicated that SCMCHA was established to facilitate humanitarian work.

In turn, the Secretary-General of SCMCHA Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, pointed out the importance of the head of ICRC visit to Yemen to tell the world about the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and siege.

Tawoos confirmed that SCMCHA is working to provide the necessary facilities for the organizations work and humanitarian partners, through coordination with the Supreme Council, which is considered the only way for Yemen, which would enhance the organizations’ performance of their task.

Tawoos reiterated the SCMCHA’s readiness to provide the necessary facilities for ICRC and its workers to perform their work in accordance with national laws.

He pointed out that the ICRC should take in consider the remarks that would develop appropriate solutions and treatments that also contribute of facilitating humanitarian action and respecting the country’s law and sovereignty.

The Secretary-General of SCMCHA called on the ICRC to pay attention to directing efforts towards visiting the prisoners and the disappeared, working to provide the basic requirements and needs of the prisoners, and continuing efforts to conduct a comprehensive exchange of prisoners.

In turn, the head of ICRC reviewed the activities of the Committee in Yemen, confirming the keenness of the ICRC delegation to provide all possible aspects of support to the Yemeni people in order to alleviate their humanitarian suffering.
