Tawoos discusses cooperation aspects with UNHCR representative to alleviate the suffering of IDPs.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation Abdul Mohsen Tawoos discussed today with UNHCR Resident Representative to Yemen John Nicholas, cooperation to alleviate the suffering of IDPs.

The meeting, in the presence of SCMCHA’s Head of Coordination Faisal Madhash and UNHCR Assistant Representative for Protection Elisabetta Brumat, discussed the joint working mechanisms between SCMCHA and UNHCR to ensure continuity of work and achieve the desired results to alleviate the suffering of IDPs and affected persons.

At the meeting, Tawoos stressed SCMCHA’s readiness to provide all necessary facilities to conduct UNHCR’s work as well as perform its tasks.

He confirmed the importance of commitment by humanitarian controls as well as respect the laws in force in Yemen, which would facilitate work and move towards humanitarian objectives.

The Secretary-General of SCMCHA indicated the importance of expanding UNHCR’s activity to meet the needs of IDPs by coordinating with SCMCHA to contribute to alleviating suffering and improving the level of humanitarian work.

In turn, Nicholas stressed UNHCR’s commitment to cooperate and coordinate with SCMCHA to do all the best on issues of IDPs.
He appreciated the SCMCHA’s efforts to provide facilities to humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen.

The meeting was attended by the General directors of displacement Khaled Al-Abali, Director of Finance Abdullah Al-Thalaya, and Director of international organizations, Turki Jamil
