SCMCHA warns of using civilians as human shields in Marib and confirms readiness to receive IDPs

SCMCHA expressed its deep regret at the insistence of the Al-Islah militias and the Coalition of Aggression to use civilians as human shields, not to open safe humanitarian corridors for the passage of civilians and to try to use them as a pressure sheet for the international community and organizations to stop the advance of the army, popular committees and the liberation of the city.

In a statement today, the Supreme Council blamed the Aggression Coalition and its mercenaries for the fact that civilians were subjected to any harm caused by being taken as human shields by placing them in camps in military areas where clashes took place on the outskirts of Marib.

The council called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene to put an end to the aggression and mercenaries action to avoid civilians and displaced persons the consequences of the fighting and not to be hiding behind them or using them as human shields as well as opening safe passages for their leaving and securing them.

The council said it was monitoring the situation closely and was preparing all necessary preparations to receive all displaced families from Marib city and provide them with all the necessary needs.

The Council called on all international organizations to intensify efforts and work with the Supreme Council to provide all necessary food and shelter needs in this regard.

The following is the statement: 

SCMCHA looked closely at the acceleration of events on Marib, resulting wave of displacement of families that was expressed by international statements where their statements expressed concern about the escalation of displacement and what these families will suffer, after the coalition of aggression and its mercenaries used civilians as human shields in order to stop the advance of the army and popular committees.

 

In this regard, SCMCHA expresses its deep regret at the insistence of the Islah and aggerssion militias to use civilians as human shields, to not open safe humanitarian corridors for the passage of civilians and to try to use them as a pressure card for the international community and organizations to stop the advance of the army and popular committees as well as the liberation of the city.

The Supreme Council holds the Alliance of Aggression and its mercenaries criminal responsibility in the case of civilians being harmed by being taken as human shields by placing them in camps in military areas where clashes are taking place on the outskirts of Marib.

The council called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene to put an end to the aggression and its mercenaries actions to avoid civilians and displaced persons the consequences of the fighting and not to be hiding behind them or using them as human shields as well as opening safe passages for their leaving and securing them.”

The council confirms that it looks closely at the situation and it prepares all necessary needs to receive all displaced families from Marib city and provide them with all the necessary needs.

SCMCHA calls on all international organizations to intensify efforts and work with the Supreme Council to provide all the necessary food and shelter needs in this regard.
