Tawoos discusses joint work mechanisms with UNHCR representative.

Today, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, discussed with UNHCR Resident Representative John Nicholas aspects of cooperation, coordination and joint working mechanisms.

At the meeting, which was attended by UNHCR Deputy Representative Martin Uther, Tawoos praised UNCHR’s work, confirming that the Supreme Council continued to provide all the facilities for the work of UNCHR and the functions assigned to it.

He stressed the importance of adhering the humanitarian work controls and to act in accordance with clear standards and mechanisms, which are important in facilitating work and moving towards humanitarian goals.

For his part, Nicholas stressed the commission’s commitment to cooperate and coordinate with the Council as well as  make all efforts to maintain the frameworks of joint coordination, praising the council’s efforts to provide facilities to humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen.

The meeting was attended by Finance Director Abdullah Al-Thalaya, international organizations Turki Jamil and UNHCR Protection Officer Elisabeth.
