Discussion of coordination between the Supreme Council and the Echo Office

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, discussed today the coordination with the Director of the European Union’s Office of Civil Protection and Humanitarian Operations Aldo Boldini.

The meeting, in the presence of the Head of the International Cooperation Department, Manaal
Al-Asal and acting planning department Mutahar Zeid, discussed the mechanisms of joint cooperation to proceed with the implementation of programs, projects and activities, in order to ensure the progress of humanitarian work, as well as the results of the recent Brussels meeting of major donors and International humanitarian orginzation.

Tawoos stressed the keenness to provide facilities to organizations that are working in the field because the Council was established to solve problems related to coordination between the relevant authorities on the one hand and organizations working in the humanitarian field on the other, in order to alleviate the human suffering that exists in Yemen.

He stressed that the course of humanitarian action should be carried out in accordance with humanitarian principles and standards, away from any other purposes, and to stand seriously in the face of constructive discussions that serve the course of action , solve problemes and put proposals that achieve the common humanitarian goal.

Aldo Boldini stressed the European Union’s keenness, represented by its humanitarian organizations, to stand positively about developing appropriate solutions and putting forward proposals in support of the humanitarian aspect in Yemen. He also welcome the efforts of the Supreme Council in coordinating and providing facilities to humanitarian organizations.

He also stressed the importance of constructive discussion and accelerated decisions on sub-agreements, projects and evaluation activities to achieve the common objectives of humanitarian and relief actors in Human Rights.
